WHY DID MELANIA TRUMP WANT A NEW PRENUP? People reports that Melania Trump, the former first lady, thinks that her husband’s fourth indictment “is another problem for her husband” and not a problem “for her.”

Vanity Fair’s recent article entitled, “Melania Trump Renegotiated Her Prenup in Case Trump’s Legal Problems Bleed Him Dry: Report,” says that according to one source, she wanted a new deal not because there’s a possibility she’ll have to move back into the White House, i.e., her least favorite place on earth, but because she’s worried about how much money will be left over for her and her son after Trump is done paying his various legal bills and damages. “This agreement was necessary because of the current legal battles…[Donald] has suffered,” a source remarked.

The ex-president has already been ordered to pay author E. Jean Carroll $5 million, and the New York attorney general—who scored a win when a judge ruled Trump had engaged in massive fraud—is seeking $250 million in a civil suit. There are also the lawyers he has to pay to defend him in four separate criminal cases, which obviously do not come cheap. “Trump remains very rich, but with mounting legal bills and judgments,” the source said, noting that the renegotiated prenup would “provide a more solid future” for Melania and Barron should the couple go their separate ways.

A person familiar with the matter told Page Six, “This is at least the third time Melania has renegotiated the terms of her marital agreement.” Representatives for the Trumps did not reply to Page Six’s request for comment.

After Trump was inaugurated, the new first lady delayed moving with him to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue so she could “amend her financial arrangement,” The Washington Post reported.

According to the paper, the couple's original prenup had not been that generous to Melania.
